On April 5, 2024, starting at 12:00 PM, the event "Science at the Heart of the State" was held in the Angiolillo Hall of Wedekind Palace in Rome, organized by the Italian Scientists Association (ISA), an acronym that brings together over 500 Top Scientists and university professors who exceed the thresholds for the national scientific qualification commission.
During the initiative, endorsed by the Presidency of the Council, the Association presented to the Institutions and political decision-makers the "Science Manifesto," a document developed by ISA members addressing some of the key issues of our time.
The event, moderated by journalist Monica Maggioni, was divided into two sessions.
The first session began at 12:00 PM with speeches from ISA President Antonio Felice Uricchio and paleontologist, science communicator, and journalist Alberto Angela. The session was concluded by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to whom ISA presented the "Science Manifesto."
The second session, starting at 12:45 PM, featured the Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini, the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci, ISA President Uricchio, and Top Scientist Maria Irene Bellini, who was awarded the prize reserved for the top 40 female surgeons under 40 worldwide by the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) in 2022.
Participation in the event was exclusively reserved for invited guests. Journalists observed from a press room connected via audio-video, and a streaming service was arranged for radio and television broadcasters.
