TERRITORY, WATER, COMMUNITY: THE EXPERIENCE OF RIVER CONTRACTS

195

On the occasion of World Water Day and the issuing of the regional guidelines for the activation of River Contracts, the Conference, organized by the Bari Polytechnic in coordination with the Water Resources Section of the Puglia Region, is aimed at spreading the experience innovation of the River Contracts and to reflect on the role of this territorial governance tool in changing the approach to water management, to the care and governance of the territory, in an era of profound changes and growing territorial and social fragility.
Territory, waters and communities, together, are at the center of the River Contracts philosophy, which is being spread throughout the country and is being tested in southern Italy, which has to face historical and recent challenges by changing pace and abandoning sectoral and wasteful management logics of the territory. The conference was an opportunity for a multidisciplinary discussion on these issues.
