On May 21, 2021, starting at 2.30 pm, prof. Michele Mossa was invited by the CNR IRSA to hold the seminar entitled "The protection of the marine environment in the context of PNR 2021-2027: the case of the alteration of dispersion processes in natural flows and the interaction between waves and vegetation in times of climate change ".
AbstractFor Italy, with its 8000 kilometers of coastline and its central position in the Mediterranean, the sea has always been the main actor for social, economic development and for the general well-being of its citizens.
If on the one hand in Italy the sea is a wealth yet to be fully exploited, on the other hand the need for environmental protection, to which all economic sectors must respond, also implies for the blue economy the need to adopt production models sustainable. The economic potential of the sector and the need to preserve natural resources represent the basis on which focus research and innovation activities to embrace an ecosystemic and sustainable approach to the management of activities economic aspects of the blue economy.
Within this scenario:
1) The guidelines of the working group "Knowledge, Technological Innovation and Sustainable Management of Marine Ecosystems "for the drafting of the NRP - National Research Plan 2021-2027 with particular regard to the coastal.
2) The consequences of climate change on the alteration of hydrological conditions and on species and density of vegetation in waterways, seas, estuarine and coastal areas will be highlighted. This is, in turn, due to an alteration of the flows and, consequently, of the ecosystem processes related to the interaction of the flows themselves with the vegetation. It will be presented a synthesis of some theoretical, numerical and experimental works of the research group of prof. Michele Mossa on the themes of the changes of advective and diffusion and coastal protection processes attributable to climate change.
The seminar will be recorded and subsequently made available on the CNR Institute's website.
