On Thursday 21 April 2023 at 15:00, as part of the Environmental Hydraulics course held by prof. Michele Mossa (Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, curriculum Environmental Engineering - Bari), the guided tour of the Historic Palace of the Apulian Aqueduct will be held. The building is the tangible expression of the great project to bring water to Puglia and make a land that has always been lacking in water productive, improving the living conditions of its citizens. The works for its construction, entrusted to Eng. Cesare Brunetti, begin in 1927 and end in 1932. The building has an Apulian neo-Romanesque style that recalls the local architectural tradition. References to the most famous Apulian architectural monuments are present both in the different decorations and in the materials. The severe aspect of the ashlar facade contrasts with the late Art Nouveau interiors, designed by Duilio Cambellotti: the dominant theme is that of water, which is proposed in the large frescoes in the Sala del Consiglio, in the floors, in the wood and mother-of-pearl inlays of the over 140 original pieces of furniture.
